Bodie
Bodie State Historic Park is one of the finest ghost town sites in California. The California State Parks service has maintained Bodie in a state of arrested decay, in which buildings are neither restored to their original state nor permitted to further deteriorate. There are an extraordinary number of historic buildings in the town, as well as the stamp mill and tailings plant. Opposite the road is the cemetary.
Get a copy of the informative booklet when you enter the park, as it contains a very good map of the town. To reach Bodie State Historic Park, drive US-395 south from Bridgeport for 11 km and turn east onto CA-270 (this highway may be closed in the winter).
