La Grange

In 1852, French settlers from the mining camp of French Bar established La Grange after their camp was destroyed by a flood. La Grange, located upstream and on higher ground, the new town thrived as a mining, trading, and farming community. It was the seat of Stanislaus County from 1856 to 1862, when it was transferred to Knight's Ferry.

La Grange is located on CA-132 63 km east of Modesto.
